Sclerotherapy Q&A
What is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure to eliminate spider veins. A solution is injected right into the vein and causes it to collapse.

How long does it take?
The appointment takes about 30 minutes.

Should I bring anything to my appointment?
You must bring thigh high compression stockings (20-30mmHg) and bring a pair of shorts to get the procedure done in. Stockings will be applied directly after the procedure. You will wear them for 24 hours straight, then 3 days during walking hours only.

How often do I have to come?
Treatments are scheduled 6-8 weeks apart

How many treatments will I need?
Multiple treatments may be needed if there are a lot or if the veins are very dark.

What should I expect after treatment?
After treatments it is important to remember NO sun exposure for 6 weeks, the solution is sun sensitive and can cause “staining”. Leg veins will look worse for the first 3 weeks after procedure, then will begin to fade; results will be 6-8 weeks after treatment.
